Morinda is a member of the Rubiaceae family. It can be found in Malaysia and Australia although it is making its way to parts of Asia, China, and India. The applicable parts of morinda are the fruits, leaves, flowers, stems, bark, and roots. Morinda root contains potassium, vitaminC, beta-sitosterol, carotene, vitamin A, flavone glycosides, linoleic acid, capric acid, ursolic acid, rutin, and other constituents. Morinda citrifulia has a pungent, sweet taste.
The plant Momordica charantia belongs to the family Rubiaceae.Root flat-terete, unequal in length, 1-2 cm in diameter. Cortex dull grey, with annular dehiscences and exposed fine xylem, appearing as a catena.Cross section showing a thick, fleshy and purplish cortex, and a small, round, yellowwhite xylem which occupies 1/4 diameter, with slightly dentate margin. The root is sweet and acrid in taste, slightly warm in nature,
and attributive to kidney and liver channels in Chinese Tradt.
